Book Review, A Map of Days by Ransom Riggs

A Map of Days The fourth novel in the Miss Peregrine’s Peculuar children series By Ransom Riggs Publisher: Penguin Books Pages: 496 Published:  02/10/2018 I couldn’t put this down!  I have been waiting for this book ever since the last book finished looking forward eagerly to read what would happen next to Jacob and his friends. A few weeks ago I was so excited to hear that a friend of mine got a copy of a proof to read for his work. I then hounded him to lend me it and I’ve been reading it throughout the past few days enjoying each moment of it (he’s not even gotten a chance to read it for himself but let it be his loss as I couldn’t wait much longer).  The story takes off where the third book ended with Jacobs family shocked by the peculiar children and the adult stranger on their property along side Jacob who was meant to be going to a mental facility.  Jacob and the team are thrown into many new experiences in this new series, with new loops, new fri

Graphic Novel Review: Invincible compendium volume 3 by Robert kirkman TS

Invincible Compendium Volume 3  By Robert Kirkman  Writer:  Robert Kirkman Artist:  Ryan Ottley ,  Cory Walker ,  John Rauch ,  Jean-Francois Beaulieu ,  Nathan Fairbairn Cover:  Ryan Ottley ,  Nathan Fairbairn Published: July 18, 2018 This is my most anticipated graphic novel for the past five years!  So I start this by disclosing that I am a huge fan of Robert Kirkman and the whole Invincible series to start with, I first read the compendium volume 1 maybe eight years ago as a gift from my brother and managed to finish it in a matter of days. I started this series late to the party and thankfully only had two years to wait for the second volume which was also incredible but unfortunately with just how many issues are packed into these compendiums I have had a five year wait for this third volume to be published and I have to say, it was worth the wait. The story being issue to issue jumps right in from the last so I would advise either re reading the series or even ju

Book Review - The World of Lore, Volume 1: Monstrous Creatures by Aaron Mahnke

The World of Lore, Volume 1: Monstrous Creatures  by Aaron Mahnke Hardcover: 320 pages Publisher: Wildfire; 01 edition (10 Oct. 2017) Language: English ISBN-10: 1472251652 Buy it here The world of Lore is the written counterpart to Aaron Mahnke's hit podcast Lore which has captivated listeners with his captivating storytelling and dark stories from history worldwide.  The world of Lore is a great book that reads just like his podcast meaning that you can practically hear his voice as you read passages of dark stories that leave you unable to put the book down.  I will point out that if you have heard all the episodes of his podcast you will likely have heard all of these stories read by Aaron already. Although even having heard everything already I found reading it all just as exciting as if hearing them for the first time again given the alternative format.  I hope that there will become a volume 2 of the series and would defiantly recommend this

Book Review - Slayers and Vampires The Complete Uncensored, Unauthorised, Oral History of Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Angel by Edward Gross, Mark A. Altman

Slayers and Vampires The Complete Uncensored, Unauthorized, Oral History of Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Angel by Edward Gross, Mark A. Altman ISBN 9780752266350 Publisher: Pan Macmillan Pub Date 05 Oct 2017  Blurb "In 1997 the first episode of a new show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer aired. It's fair to say that following the critically panned and commercially unsuccessful film of the same name five years previously, expectations were not high. However over the course of 144 episodes and the successful spin-off show, Angel, it produced some of the best and best-loved television of all time. And its creator Joss Whedon's subversive take on supernatural stories has shaped everything from Marvel to Star Wars. Before Buffy, if a girl and a monster went into an alleyway and there was no boy to save her, only the monster came back out. Buffy changed all that. Twenty years on, the story of the girl who saved the universe . . . a lot and the world's most

Graphic Novel Review - The MERCENARY The Definitive Editions, Vol 1 The Cult of the Sacred Fire by Vicente Segrelles

The MERCENARY The Definitive Editions, Vol 1 The Cult of the Sacred Fire by Vicente Segrelles Series: THE MERCENARY The Definitive Editions (Book 1) Hardcover: 64 pages Publisher: NBM Publishing; 2 edition (November 10, 2017) Language: English ISBN-10: 1681121247 ISBN-13: 978-1681121246 Buy it Here Blurb "In a lost and long forgotten valley high up in the mountains, The Mercenary has been contracted to save a woman from the mysterious and powerful Cult of the Sacred Fire." Review So I went in blind on this not having heard of the mercenary before but unfortunately it just wasn't my style of graphic novel. I found the art tried to fit in female nudity whenever possible which to be honest didn't actually do anything to the story, the characters could have been in snow suits and still the story would be the same so I felt it was just a little over the top.  I also felt there was no introduction to the story or characters so for most of the book I
